London Places - Dulwich Estate Visit

Wednesday, 12 April 2017

The next visit will be on Wednesday 12 April to the Dulwich Estate. This is a charity which owns residential and commercial property in Dulwich. The income generated goes to support the chapel, almshouses and some local schools including Dulwich College.

The visit will start with an introductory talk (with tea & biscuits) in the charity's boardroom at about 11.30am. This will be followed by a short tour, mainly of the chapel. We will then visit Dulwich Picture Gallery with its 600 paintings (including ones by Rembrandt, Rubens and Canaletto) with an option to see paintings by Vanessa Bell and Patti Smith.

Meet in Letchworth Station foyer at 9.25am to get the 9.45am non-stop train to Kings Cross. We will then take the tube to Victoria to get the train to West Dulwich railway station. The charity’s office is a ten-minute walk from the station. The Gallery has a café.

We will leave Dulwich about 3.00pm, although you may stay longer if you wish, depending on your train ticket.

Book your place at Letchworth Local and Tourist Information Office, Station Road. LALG members free, non-members £3.

Cost of the day: train ticket plus entrance to the Gallery (£7, seniors £6). The Smith & Bell paintings cost an additional £7.
