Notting Hill

Thursday, 23 March 2017 - 9:30am

On this walk (about 3½ miles) we shall be exploring Notting Hill, now a wealthy residential area famous as a film location, for the Portobello Road market, riots and the annual carnival. Hidden behind the opulent facades we see today lies a story of exploitation and aspirations.

Meet at Letchworth station at 9.30am for the 9.55am train (9.52 Baldock, 10.00 Hitchin, 10.06 Stevenage) to Kings Cross where we will gather before the barrier at the arrival platform. Return to Kings Cross to catch the train before 4.30pm.

To join the walks please contact Celia Lord (not Rosemary) preferably by email or phone 01462 623589. Mobile on the day 07964 373131.

Our walks are open to all LALG members, and we ask for a £3 per head contribution towards the leader’s research expenses.

When booking please confirm LALG membership, your email address and, ideally, a mobile contact number.

All the walks to Notting Hill are fully booked, but anyone who thought of going but hasn’t yet got round to contacting Celia is advised to do so asap, in order to take advantage of any cancellations.
