From the Shell House in the middle of Hatfield Forest, we headed north west through the Deer Park to one end of a broad woodland ride. Here we turned left and headed out of the forest, walking round a lake which is the home of Beggars Hall fishing club. From here we headed south through Woodside Green until we reached Little Haileybury. We passed under the M11 and continued in a southerly direction with the M11 up to a mile away on our left. The path slowly came closer to the M11 and we turned west just before passing under it as we headed towards Sawbridgewoth, where we reached the River Stort. The rest of the walk was along the banks of the River Stort, passing Old Harlow on the way. Here we met up woth Phoebe Taplin, the author of the walking guides we were using for our walk and had a pleasant drinks break and impromptu book signing session at the Beefeater in Harlow Mill. Bidding farewell to Phoebe we conitnued along the Stort towpath ending the walk where the river almost meets the A414 near Eastwick.
