Early Industry Trail

Saturday, 10 September 2016 - 11:00am

Our Group will be running two Early Industrial Trails as part of the Heritage Open Weekend programme. Both of them are planned to take 1½ hrs approx. and are based on the Early
Industries Exhibition held last October.
Hopefully, there will be access into a couple of the historic buildings still standing. The first will be a walking tour on Saturday 10 September, starting at 11.00am outside the Pixmore Café,
corner of Works Road and Pixmore Avenue. The second will be a minibus tour on Sunday 11 September, starting from and returning to Spirella, planned to cover a somewhat larger area than the Saturday tour but also providing the possibility of seeing some of the buildings inside.
On both days our display panels from the Letchworth Early Industries Exhibition will be re-erected and available for your perusal in the Spirella Ballroom. We very much hope you will
take this opportunity of re-visiting all that intriguing history. On Sunday we'd prefer to see you there for an introductory talk around 1.45pm, but you'd be welcome to get up there even earlier, to give yourselves plenty of time for some quiet study. Soon after 2.00pm, we'll then make our way down to the minibus.
The tours are free but as spaces are limited to 15 booking is essential, either online on [old link deleted] or in person at Station Road Tourist Information Centre.
