Tuesday 19 July – The Weald and Downland Open Air Museum
Come and discover rescued and painstakingly rebuilt traditional rural buildings, set in a beautiful landscape, which tell the stories of the men, women and children who lived and worked in them over a period of more than 600 years.

Enjoy the Museum’s 50-acre site and visit the collection of historic buildings from sites across southern England. The collection includes workers’ cottages, shops, farmhouses, barns, a watermill, and even a church. Many of the exhibit houses are furnished to recreate historic domestic interiors.

There is a regular programme of domestic and craft demonstrations, including cooking in the Tudor kitchen, blacksmithing in the Victorian smithy plus seasonal demonstrations. Take a walk in the woods, visit the café kiosk or enjoy your own picnic in the grounds.

The coach will leave Baldock (opposite the Community Centre) at 8.00am, and Letchworth (opposite Barclays bank) at 8.15am. We will stop for coffee on the way down at a delightful garden centre in Haselmere and leave the Open Air Museum around 4.30pm. The cost for LALG members will be £27.00 (non-members £29.00). To book please phone Susan Mellor on 01462 456486 after 9.30am on Monday 13 June.

NB this is Susan's correct phone number - it was misprinted in the paper copy of the newsletter.
