Blenheim Palace

Friday, 19 June 2015 - 8:45am

The opulence of Blenheim Palace is such that it rivals many Royal Palaces. It was built in the early 18th century, to the design of Sir John Vanbrugh with the interiors by Nicholas Hawksmoor. It is surrounded by parkland laid out by ’Capability’ Brown. There are water gardens in a style echoing those of Versailles, rose gardens, an Italian garden and most recently a ‘secret’ garden laid out in an informal style.

We shall be visiting at the start of the Blenheim Palace Flower Show, which Mary Berry will be opening and will be taking questions and book signing during the day. There is to be an extensive floral marquee, show gardens and exhibitors offering plants etc for sale. There are a number of different places to eat.

The coach leaves Letchworth opposite Barclays Bank at 08.45 am, and Baldock (the Fortuna Restaurant) at 9.00 am. We shall aim to be back by 6.30 to 7.00 pm. The cost will be £29.00 per person. Non LALG add £1.00

There may still be some places left for this trip, so if you are interested and have not yet booked, please contact Ron Verran (01462 486272) for the latest position.
