Oxford Trip

Wednesday, 29 April 2015

Oxford, the ‘city of dreaming spires’ is steeped in a rich and fascinating history. Famous for its prestigious university, the city is home to its 38 colleges whereby many notable scholars have emerged.

The Radcliffe Camera, Bodleian Library, and Bridge of Sighs make up just a few of the famous picturesque buildings of Oxford. Its charming scenery has been the inspiration for many, including Lewis Carroll and J R R Tolkein. There are also many recognisable scenes from popular films such as Harry Potter and TV series like Inspector Morse

There are many fascinating Oxford tourism hotspots like museums, many of which are free.

On arrival we will have a coffee and meet our Blue Badge guide who will take us on a walking tour of historical Oxford.

At the end of the tour there will be free time to have lunch and visit museums, galleries, colleges etc.  For shopaholics, there are many specialist shops as well as famous High Street stores.  There is also a large covered market.

The cost will be a total of £20 LALG member, £22 non-members.

The coach will leave Baldock outside Templars Restaurant (formerly Zeus) at 8.30 am and Letchworth opposite Barclays bank at 8.45 am.
