Talk on Gordon Craig

Thursday, 19 March 2015 - 7:30pm

Thursday 19th March, 7:30pm The Life and Work of Gordon Craig (1872-1966) A talk by Hamish Wilson, Head of Drama (St Christopher School Theatre, Barrington Road, Letchworth. Open to all: free entry.)

Gordon Craig is notoriously known as the set designer whose set for Hamlet at the Moscow Arts Theatre collapsed on the opening night. Sadly, this unfortunate tale overshadows his brilliance as an innovative theatre practitioner. He saw theatre as an integrated art-form rather than ‘applied literature.’ Born in Stevenage in 1872 to the celebrated actress Ellen Terry, he is one of the town’s most famous sons and still continues to exert an enormous influence on the development of dramatic art.

Thank you to St Christopher School for helping us with this evening.
