Sports & Games

Come and play golf with the 50/9ers.
This new group is for golfers who are fifty and over and want to play 9 holes on some of the finest courses in the county, at very reasonable rates!
With regular competitions and social events, this Society takes over where the regular golfer leaves off.

Meetings are held on various Tuesdays at 2.30pm at 3, Longmeadow Drive, Ickleford.

Please ring Irene Harding to confirm dates and arrangements.

Please bring a set if you have one.

All welcome.

We meet at the Letchworth Tennis Club on Mondays from 8.00pm to 10.00pm, excluding Bank Holidays.

Please note it is an Intermediate, not a beginners group.

This group is currently full, but new groups are being formed as existing ones fill up, so please contact William Armitage 07890 709462 about the possibility of setting up a new Badminton group.

We are a group who enjoy social cycling and we generally ride on the third Thursday of every month. We cycle in North Hertfordshire, Central Bedfordshire and occasionally into Cambridgeshire.  The distance covered on our rides is up to 25 miles.  Our group is of mixed experience and ability, so all adults are welcome. We aim these rides at beginners and those that haven't cycled for a while and will ride at the speed of the slowest rider.

Gentle exercise and Yoga help improve well-being and quality of life. This programme provides a perfect complement to support your other activities by helping you gently work on flexibility and balance, including all the joints and muscle groups of the body. Suitable for all levels and most health conditions.

Weather permitting, rides of between 30 and 50 miles will continue.

We may start short evening rides this month if enough people are interested.

We organise our meets by email: cycling.lalg@gmail.com.

A group which attends various local quiz events (and aims to win !! they hope).

For details of times and cost for specific events see Group Contact box on the right.

We meet once or twice a week at members homes where we play the game for pleasure.

The game and the way we play it lends itself to both the beginner and the more advanced player.

We meet in the Broadway Gallery Cafe on alternate Wednesdays at 2.30pm to play Scrabble.

Any new people wishing to join should check with me to confirm the arrangements.

Short tennis is played in doubles on a smaller court with a soft ball. It’s easier than Lawn Tennis but still good fun and a new skill to master.

We play indoors at the Letchworth Tennis Club, Muddy Lane, on Thursday mornings from 10.30am to 11.30am.

We ride on Sunday mornings twice a month at a leisurely pace for around 10-15 miles on cycle tracks and quiet roads.

This is a social ride always ending with a coffee stop.

We meet by the fountain in Broadway Gardens, Letchworth, usually at 10.00 am.

We welcome new riders so please contact me for further details.

Contact Robin Ghisi for information on our next ride.
