Social

'Action for Happiness' is a movement for positive social change, bringing together people interested in activities scientifically evidenced to improve our sense of well-being, e.g. mindfulness, identifying personal strengths, gratitude diaries, being near nature, etc.

The group meets monthly. There is a small charge to cover room rental and sundries. Teas and coffees can be purchased at the venue.

We are currently full but to register your interest, please email Maxine.

We are a social group who meet up for coffee before each film in David's Coffee Shop, Eastcheap, at 10.15am.

We meet once a month to plan trips over a cuppa, and have one "group" outing a month.

Our members also contact one another for ad-hoc trips.

For further information please phone Annie.

Regular meetings are held on the last Tuesday of every month (except August and December) between 11.00 am and 12.30 pm, at the Central Methodist Church (junction of Pixmore Way and Norton Way South, SG6 2TR).  See the Events panel on the right.

Come along to our friendly group and enjoy a cuppa followed by an informal talk.

The title sums it up - a group to consider all and every matter relating to Europe.

Our Singles Drop-In for single men and women meets weekly on Fridays from 8.00pm at the Cultivo Lounge, Leys Avenue.

The relaxing evening is an informal way to make new friends and maybe to suggest an event that you have wanted to attend, so it can be added to our calendar of varied social events and other members can attend too.

There are no sporting events planned for January or February.

I will look into some appropriate events for the Spring & Summer. If you have any ideas or requests then please contact Steve Green (Group Contact).

See 'Group events' in column on the right⇒

We meet fortnightly.

Sorry, no new members can be accepted at present, but there is now a second group running - look for Meet for Coffee 2 in Social Groups.

We meet regularly for tea/coffee and a chat at the Wyevale Garden Centre, Hitchin.

After our successful belated Christmas lunch our April dates are shown in the Group Events box on the right.

We are sorry that we cannot take any new members at present.

Visits to museums and places of interest and occasional pub lunches

This group enters a team (or teams) in general knowledge quizzes held at various locations in Letchworth Garden City and other nearby towns and villages. We try to take part in a couple of quizzes a month - not on any specific evening - so if you know of a quiz near you that you'd like to take part in, join us & we'll fit it in. Or perhaps you know about a one-off quiz at the weekend.

The quiz nights we are planning to attend in the near future are shown in the Group Events column on the right.

This group specialises in organising trips to theatres for plays, music concerts, and other major events including sport. Prices usually include good seats and travel by coach from, and returning to, Letchworth.

See the programme of upcoming events in the column on the right headed ‘Group events’. Click on any title and you will see details of the performance, times, method of travel, and how to book your seat.

Possible future visits:-

We meet on the first Thursday of the month to book a trip on a Thursday at the end of the subsequent month making use of reduced rail fares for Advance tickets and/or a group/railcard reduction. The cost of the fare is usually around £25 but depends on how far we travel and we aim to spend around 4 - 5 hours at our destination

All are welcome but you will need to be at the meetings to book and pay for the ticket.

We have planned our trips for 2018 and they are detailed below

See the 'Group Events'  box to the right for details of our next meeting

Make new friends and share a holiday or a day out.  All welcome!

I have been measuring the temperatures and rainfall for the past five years so I haven't a huge history of recordings. The little group of enthusiasts would be very happy to hear from others in Letchworth and the surrounding villages who have comparison figures so do get in touch if you would like to compare notes or meet up.
