Russian Language

Meetings are usually held on Thursdays at 2.00pm – frequently but somewhat irregularly depending on members' other activities. Some time is spent on conversation but mostly we "do into English" as best we can with assorted texts.

For the past year or so we have been ‘doing into English’ a modern Russian thriller - rather long and boring but full of colloquialisms and subtle points of grammar which we thought would be good for us.

Hm! In the best tradition of such yarns the hero got both his man and the girl. For those interested, it was the victim's brother ‘wot dunnit’. The story has now been filmed. Rather haltingly we are now trying to develop our conversational skills with the occasional short story or poem thrown in.
