Feb 2011 - Finland & Istanbul

This was our inaugural 'business' meeting,

previous meetings having determined what the group truly wanted to achieve.

We determined to use the LALG website extensivly for publicity and communication between us.

Discussion began on a proposed trip to Finland, probably in 2012.  One of our members Mertsi, is Finnish, and will be researching.  Initially we determined about 4 - 5 days with flights from a convenient airport (Stanstead).  Two days will be spent in Helsinki and other days along the Baltic coast westwards.  We hope for a 'critical mass' of about 12 people to justify the hire of a mini bus for some of the days.  We also determined that 'hostels' of good scandinavian standard would probably add to the experience AND keep costs down!

The other trip in planning, is a break to Istanbul.  This may take place later this year, however,  It will be necessary to establish a 'critical mass' soon.  Please get in touch if you are interested. Several members have been to this fascinating city and will be making input to the plans.

One of our members (Jim) is an extensive long haul traveller (Far East. Central America etc) and shared some stories and tips on research.
