Historical King's Lynn

Historical King's Lynn

Tuesday, 17 October 2017

We are having a guided tour of Trues Yard Fishing Heritage Museum which is built around the last surviving cottages and the smoke house. The tiny rooms capture the harsh realities of fishing life and the spirit and traditions of a close-knit community.

There are lots of historical buildings to see in King's Lynn - St. Nicholas Chapel with its 15th Century wooden roof and carved angels, the medieval Guildhall (which houses the King's Lynn Art Centre) and the Customs House, to name a few. There is an opportunity (weather permitting) for an hour-long guided walk to see these buildings and hear about their history.

Tuesday is market day in the picturesque Market Place and there are lots of cafés and restaurants for lunch.

The cost of this outing is £16 (£17 for non-LALG members). The price includes coffee and biscuits on arrival at the Museum. The optional guided walk costs £4. The coach will leave Baldock at 8.45am, from opposite the Community Centre, and at 9.00am from Letchworth, opposite Barclays Bank.

To book please phone Kay Nethersole on 01462 490313 from 9.30am on Monday 9 October. Answer machine bookings not accepted.
