Lea Valley Walk 3 - Cole Green to Broxbourne 29/03/16

We started this leg by continuing along the trackbed of the old Hatfield to Hertford East railway line. Having past the site of the former Hertingfordbury station (now a private house) we turned off the trackbed, passed under the Kings Cross railway line and arrived at the centre of Hertford via the football ground and the Castle. We walked through the centre of Hertford, crossing the River Lea at Folly Bridge and then followed the left hand side of the river. We soon crossed over the the right hand bank and left Hertford via Kings Meads and the sluice for the New River (dug between 1609 and 1613!). We continued along the right hand side of the river passing Ware (with its riverside dormer windows), Stanstead Lock, Rye House and Dobbs Weir ending the walk alongside the Old Mill Retreat Cafe in Broxbourne
